Genius Scan: A Scanner in Your Pocket

Genius Scan turns your iPhone into a pocket scanner. It enables you to quickly scan documents on the go and email the scans as JPEG or PDF. I use this app all the time to scan documents into Evernote. Evernote is an electronic document filing system that I use.

Here is an example of how helpful Genius Scan can be. I take my Honda Accord in to the shop to get the oil changed. When I get my car back, they print out the invoice with the date and the odometer reading as proof of the service performed on the car. Rather than taking the invoice and filing it somewhere, I simply launch Genius Scan and take a picture of it. Then, I apply a black and white enhancement, click the sharing button and tap on the Evernote link. I add a title that says, “Honda Accord Oil Change from 10/27/12” and directly upload the PDF to Evernote. Now, I can shred my invoice reducing clutter in my world and making it easier than ever to track my Honda’s service records.
