Ever since Apple included GPS in the iPhone 3G, I have been a regular user of various maps apps that provide driving directions on the go. The only trick to this is figuring out how to set your iPhone up in the car so that you can easily see the directions without taking your eyes and concentration off of the road. There are lots of car dashboard and window mounts out there. I have tried various ones that mount to the fan vent or are connected to an extension from the cigarette lighter. None of these have been good solutions. Recently, I stumbled upon the iOttie Easy View Windshield Dashboard Car Mount Holder Cradle. And, after using it for awhile, I am convinced that it is one of the best out there, especially considering how inexpensive it is. If you are in the market for a car dashboard or window mount cradle for your iPhone, I highly recommend getting this one.
Here are a few of the features:
- Mount is easily adjustable with a quick turn of the knob and provides 360⁰ viewing angles
- Foam grips guards your device as it easily rotates between landscape and portrait views
- Easy one-touch mounting system grabs and ejects the device with just a tap of a finger
- Super strong suction pad mounts solidly to dashboards and windshields and is easily removable
- Securely holds devices up to 3 inches in width and offers access to all exterior ports (works with iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and it will work with the iPhone 5S as well when it is released). You can even use this dashboard/windshield mount if your iPhone is in a case.
These features are big claims from the manufacturer and I can affirm that they are all exactly as described. The iOttie is easy to mount and I had no problem attaching it to a curved bumpy surface on the dashboard of my car. The “easy one-touch mounting system” is amazing. There is a retractable grip arm that you pull out. Then, when you set your iPhone against the mount on your dashboard or windshield, a little button is automatically pressed and the retractable arm securely grabs the iPhone. All the ports on the top and bottom of the phone are fully accessible allowing you to connect a car charger or use the headphone jack to pipe the audio through an auxiliary port on your car’s stereo system. The dashboard or windshield mount rotates to allow for landscape or portrait viewing of whatever is on the screen of your iDevice.
Overall, I couldn’t be happier with the iOttie. Check it out for yourself on Amazon.com – it costs less than $20! Click on the link below to see the iOttie on Amazon.com:
