Turn on Kid’s Mode (Guided Access) on your iPhone, iPad (Mini) and iPod Touch in iOS 6

Have you ever wanted to let your kids, grandkids, or someone else’s kids play with your iPhone or iPad? Have you ever come back later to find that this wonderful little person ended up sending random texts to people in your contacts list, deleting photos, and other things you didn’t want to happen? Well, there is a solution to that. It is called “Guided Access.” I have renamed this Kid’s Mode or Child Mode because that’s what I use it for. Kid’s Mode locks your device into one app and disables the Home Button, On/Off Button, and Volume Buttons. This Continue Reading →

Pulse News Reader (Free App) – Best blog, news, and web content app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch

This is by far the best new reader app I have found on the App Store – and it’s FREE! You can add any type of blog, news feed, and a lot more web content that can all be viewed in a beautiful layout. If the news feeds have images in them, those will come through as well. The user interface on this app makes it so much fun to use (Check out the gallery below). I have never enjoyed consuming digital content as much as when I got this app. Some of my favorites are MacRumors.com, Tuaw.com, CultofMac.com, TheAtlantic.com, Continue Reading →

How to insert a photo or video directly into an email message

There is a simple way to add a photo right into the text you are typing in an email. Here is how: 1. Tap and hold where you want to insert the photo. The magnifying glass will appear so you can precisely insert the cursor where you want it. 2. Release your hold and a menu will appear with options to “Select” “Select All” or “Paste”. There will also be a little arrow pointing to the right. Tap on this arrow to reveal “Insert Photo or Video”. 3. Tap on that button to automatically pull up your photos and videos Continue Reading →

Get the best 2Do app out there and check your Todo App search off your list

One of my favorite productivity apps is called “2Do”. It is an incredible todo list app that seamlessly syncs with iCloud and the built in “Reminders” app. This app has a ton of features but I will summarize a few here so you can get an idea of how useful this tool can be. First of all, this app is a Universal app which means that you only have to buy one app that works on both the iPad and the iPhone (and iPod Touch). And again, with iCloud, it can seamlessly syncs with all your iOS devices. Once installed, Continue Reading →

Enable “Do Not Disturb” on iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch to give yourself a peaceful break

Apple introduced a helpful feature in iOS 6 called “Do Not Disturb”. When enabled, your device silences all incoming notifications, phone calls, and vibrating alerts. For once, you can enjoy a break from all those Facebook notifications :). Here is how to get the most out of this feature: Locate the “Do Not Disturb” toggle in the settings app. If you switch it on, you will notice a little moon appears to the right side of the time at the top of your screen. Further customization of the “Do Not Disturb” feature can be found by tapping on the “Notifications” Continue Reading →

Logitech Bluetooth Speaker: The perfect portable wireless speaker for your iPhone or iPad

I just recently purchased this Logitech Mini Boombox (new version is the Logitech UE Mobile Boom Box) for my iPhone and iPad. It is amazing! It is about the footprint of your iPhone and about 3 inches tall. It comes with a rechargeable battery that lasts up to 10 hours. The speaker can also be used as a handsfree calling device to receive calls. The controls are all touch sensitive controls on the top of the speaker. You can play/pause, skip forward/backwards, and receive a call. The sound is great and packs more bass than you would expect from such Continue Reading →

Use “Volume Up” Button to Take a Picture

Anytime you go to take a picture with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you can use the “Volume Up” button on the side of the device as the shutter release. This makes it much more like a point-and-shoot camera avoiding the need to touch the right part of your screen while taking a picture.
