This iOS 8 quick tip of a hidden feature will show you how to access Notification Center with Reachability on iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Reachability is one of the many great features introduced in iOS 8 and works on the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. It is designed to allow one handed access to all apps and controls on the larger screen iPhones. Reachability is easy to activate and makes the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus much more useable with one hand.
Here is how to activate Reachability:
Simply double touch (not push) on the Home Button (Touch ID button). When you activate Reachability, the entire screen shifts down so that the content on the upper half of the screen becomes accessible with one hand.
As I was using Reachability on my iPhone 6 Plus, I wondered if it was possible to access Notification Center from the middle of the screen when Reachability was activated (typically you have to pull down from the top of the screen to activate Notification Center). So, I tested it out and it worked! All you need to do is to double touch on the Home Button to activate Reachability. Then, pull down from the middle of the screen (instead of the top of the screen) and Notification Center will appear giving you access to all of your notifications as well as customized widgets.
This feature is extremely helpful when using your device with one hand. It makes Notification Center easily accessible even when using the larger screen iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
