There are a few features of the built in Music app on iOS 6 that are subtly hidden. These include how to search and shuffle songs. If you have been using an iDevice for awhile these two features may be very familiar to you already. If you aren’t familiar with how to search and shuffle songs, then this article will help you get more out of your iPhone and iPod Touch Music app. You can also configure which buttons appear on the bottom of the screen in the music app. Here’s how to search and shuffle songs as well as how to customize the bottom buttons in the Music app:
1. How to Search and Shuffle Songs in Music App
Open up the music app and you will notice the buttons along the bottom. Tap on any of these buttons (except the more button) and you will see lists of whatever button you tapped on – a list of Artists, Audiobooks, Albums, Songs, etc. Whenever you are looking at any of these lists, simply drag down on the list to reveal the Search Songs feature. Type in any song, playlist, or album and the Music App will search that for you.
In addition, if you have an artist with multiple albums and you tap on the Artist and then All Songs, you can shuffle all the songs from this one artist. Just drag down on the screen to reveal the Search Feature as well as a Shuffle Button. Any time you tap on a playlist or an album, the Shuffle button is already visible.
2. How to Configure and Customize Buttons in Music App
You can also configure the buttons that appear along the bottom of the Music App. To do this, tap on the More Button at the bottom right of the Music App. Then tap Edit in the upper left corner to enter into Configure Mode. Once you are in Configure Mode, you can customize which buttons appear along the bottom by simply dragging and dropping the buttons you would like. Tap on a Button from the upper part of the screen and drag it to the bottom of the screen where the 5 buttons are. When you release the button you are dragging in this section, it will replace whatever was there with the new button you just chose.
