How to Set up and Use Apple Pay ( Pay) on iPhone 6 and 6 Plus

How to Set up and Use Apple Pay ( Pay) on iPhone 6 and 6 PlusThis article is all about how to set up and use Apple Pay ( Pay) on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. With iOS 8.1, Apple released Pay that allows those with an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus to make payments at participating stores by just using the iPhone. Pay can also be used to make purchases through Apps and the Safari web browser on any iOS device with Touch ID.

Here is how to set up Apple Pay:

1. Make sure you have upgraded to iOS 8.1

To upgrade, you can either open the Settings App on your iOS device and go to General –> Software Update –> Download and Install. I always recommend making a backup of your device before upgrading to a new version on your iOS device.

2. Add your first Debit/Credit Card to  Pay

How to Set up and Use Apple Pay ( Pay) on iPhone 6 and 6 PlusNow that you are running iOS 8.1 or later on your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus, open up the Settings App and navigate to Passbook and Apple Pay. Tap on the blue text that says, “Add Credit or Debit Card.” This will open the interface to either manually enter a credit/debit card or to use the camera to collect necessary data from your credit or debit card. I used the camera feature and was able to quickly capture the credit card number, my name, and the expiration date. The only thing I needed to manually enter was the security code.

3. Add Billing Address Details to Complete Setup

The last step is to make sure that you select the billing address, phone number, and email address associated with your credit card account. Once you have inputed all of this info, you are now ready to use Apple Pay. The next time you are in a store that accepts Pay (Walgreens, Whole Foods, and others are among the first to accept Pay) you can just hold your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus close to a Point of Sale (POS) terminal – about an inch away – that accepts Apple Pay and your iPhone will automatically wake up and ask for you to validate the payment by touching the Touch ID button. Once you do this, the payment will go through and you will receive a digital receipt. If you need to switch to a different card from the default payment card, simply hold the device next to the Point of Sale terminal in the store and just before authorizing with your fingerprint on the Touch ID simply tap the card you want to pay with from the available cards in Passbook. One additional super cool feature is that you can see past transactions by tapping on the credit card image in the Passbook App or by going to the respective credit card listed in the Settings App –> Passbook and Apple Pay. This is a great way to keep up on all your Apple Pay transactions on this particular card and all your normal transactions as well.
