5 Things you can Ask Siri: Movie Reviews, Sports, Launch Apps, Make Reservations, and Post to Facebook and Twitter

Apple gave Siri a big upgrade in iOS 6. There are hundreds of things that you can ask Siri. Unfortunately, Siri is not available on all iOS devices. Siri is only available on the iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad 3rd and 4th Generation, the iPad Mini and the latest iPod Touch.

Here are 5 things you can ask Siri:

1. Movie Reviews

Siri has a ton of knowledge about movies. You can get movie times, reviews, theater locations, etc. If you want to get a review for a specific movie, just ask. I asked Siri for a review on The Hobbit. The review was not that good, but I don’t think it is Siri’s fault. Maybe The Hobbit should have been kept to 1 or 2 parts instead of 3 – but that discussion is for a different blog :).

2. Sports

Siri also knows all about sports. You can get stats on players, ask about upcoming games, or get scores of completed games. I asked Siri what was on for NFL games tomorrow. Siri responded with 2 games: the Colts vs. the Ravens and the Seahawks vs. Redskins.

Ask Siri all about sports - stats, players, scores, upcoming games, etc.

3. Launch Apps

Siri can launch any of your apps. If you are like me, you have more apps than you can keep track of. Often times I have a hard time finding an app that I want to launch. Instead of hunting around for it, I can just ask Siri. You can say things like, “Launch Safari,” “Open Reminders,” “Open Easy Calendar,” etc. You can also say “Take a Picture” and Siri will launch the camera app for you.

4. Make Reservations

If you want to go out to dinner, Siri can help make reservations for you. The reservations are made through OpenTable. Here is an example of what you can say to make a reservation, “Make reservations at Portland City Grill for tomorrow at 7pm for 2.” Siri will display available reservations, the restaurant phone number and website as well as the address and a map. If a suitable time is available, just tap “Make Reservation” and you will be all set.

5. Post to Facebook and Twitter

Both Facebook and Twitter are deeply integrated into iOS 6. One of the benefits of this is that you can use Siri to post to Facebook or Twitter. Just preface your post with “Post to Facebook” or “Post to Twitter,” then complete your sentence with whatever you want to post. Remember, if you make a mistake or if Siri misinterprets something you say, you can always go back and edit the last phrase you just said. For more on editing mistakes when using Siri, see this article: The Best Hidden Secret about Siri: How to Edit Mistakes.

Just say, Post to Facebook and then complete your sentence

If you are new to Siri and want to get a list of things you can ask, just Ask Siri by saying, “What can I ask you?” Siri will respond with a big list of examples of the things you can ask.

There are so many things you can ask siri, sports, launch apps, weather, post to facebook, tweet with twitter, movie reviews, make a phone call, send a text, etc.
